The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for an experienced Bookkeeper/Accountant - Full time 37.5 hours weekly Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

Performs specialized clerical and bookkeeping tasks in the recording and maintenance of precise fiscal records and financial data; applies fundamental bookkeeping knowledge and skills to varied bookkeeping tasks such as administering the day-to-day operations the Great Plains Accounting Program by using functionalized double-entry accounting package, checking entries, issuing checks, balancing accounts, and preparing financial reports; prepares and maintains financial records in an accurate, complete, and timely manner while ensuring the integrity, security and accountability of Salvation Army financial accounts. Analyzes and prepares in a variety of routine and complex accounting functions; serves as a liaison to The Salvation Army Divisional Headquarters Finance Department and the Greenville, NC Corps. Works with outside venders as needed in order to provide timely information regarding the status of payables; assists in performing general cost and fund accounting activities, including account reconciliations; assists in ensuring that accounting functions are performed in compliance with accounting principles, established policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal rules and regulations. This position serves on the local level as, Accounts Payable, Receivables, Accounting Clerk and assists the HR in payroll as needed. This position will include a variety of complex and routine accounting, finance and administrative functions such as general ledger accounting and reconciliation, processing of cash and cash transactions, banking, bank reconciliations, record keeping, ordering needed supplies, reporting, purchase orders, requisitions, checks, check requests, intercompany invoicing and ACH transactions.

Education and Experience
Associates Degree in Accounting or related field required, and Two years of experience performing progressively responsible accounting and/or bookkeeping work with limited supervision. OR 4 years’ experience as an Accountant and or Bookkeeper worked with limited supervision.
