Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to act as the Executive Director of the Family Support Network of Eastern NC. The Executive Director (ED) is the administrative agent of the Family Support Network of Eastern North Carolina (FSN-ENC). The Executive Director plans for and administers this organization in accordance with the agency’s mission: The Family Support Network of Eastern North Carolina, Inc. is a private nonprofit corporation designed to provide emotional support and resource information for families of children with developmental, physical or medical needs and families who have experienced the death of a child. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing and community outreach. The Executive Director operates under the general direction of the agency’s Board of Directors. As a representative of the FSN-ENC you will be the face our organization, requiring excellent communication skills, organizational skills and ability to problem solve.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

Supervise and coordinate all office procedures, programs and services of FSN-ENC. Attend all regular meetings of the Board of Directors.

Implement policies adopted by the Board.

Institute and maintain appropriate management controls Ensure adherence to all legal obligations of the agency.

Direct, coordinate and supervise the projects and services of FSN-ENC.

Plan annual and other meetings, institutes, workshops or conventions as instructed by the Board.

Provide guidance and assistance to families of children with special needs.

Enhance the image of FSN-ENC by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other profession, civic and private organizations.

Increase public awareness and understanding of the issues of families of children with special needs through distribution of materials such as brochures and reports.

Participate in the implementation of special events (i.e. the Festival of Trees and gala). Provide press releases to newspapers, radio and television as needed.

Oversee all financial operations of the agency.

Develop grant proposals to diversify funding available for implementing desired programs Oversee all fundraising activities by writing letters, making speeches and stimulating the activities of others in direct fundraising.

Select interns and hire staff members within budget limitations.

Orient each employee and/or intern to the personnel policies and procedures of FSN-ENC. Supervise and direct staff members and/or interns in the performance of their duties.

Job Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in social service or related field with at least 3 years of experience working in social service or related area.
  2. Master’s degree in related area preferred.
  3. Knowledge of working with persons with disabilities/special needs and their families.
  1. Knowledge and experience with fiscal management, personnel management, public and media relations and fundraising.
