Night and Week-end Monitor Staff

Job Summary: These positions are part-time status and are scheduled month to month by the Shelter Manager. The Night and Week-end Monitor Staff are responsible for the management of Ruth’s House during evening and week-end hours.

Reporting Relationship: These staff members report to the Shelter Manager

Qualifications: Shelter staff requires a minimum of a high school diploma with experience in residential services; this position requires a criminal check, drug test and CPR certification.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Welcome new clients entering the shelter after-hours and complete intake procedures.
  • Exhibit effective interpersonal skills that build mutual trust and respect with clients
  • Apply ethical standards of professional behavior in working with clients
  • Respond to the needs of residents, supplies, assistance, etc.
  • Provide direct supervision of residents
  • Answer the 24 hour crisis line and assist victims as requested making appropriate referrals
  • Record case notes on clients in case records for review by Shelter Manager daily
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed
  • In emergencies contact Beaufort Sheriff’s Department or Washington Police and/or the Shelter Manager
  • Assure that safe house facility is clean and neat at all times
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and other trainings designated by Shelter Manager
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Shelter Manager
