Teaching Assistant Professor / Teaching Associate Professor, Microbiology & ImmunologyPosition is a 12‑month fixed‑term faculty appointment at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor or Teaching Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at East Carolina University School of Medicine (Brody). The role focuses on teaching, curriculum development, and student support across the MD, MS, PhD, and dental degree programs.ResponsibilitiesDeliver live and recorded lectures for MD, MS, and PhD programs.Assist in the administration of flipped classrooms and review sessions in MD programs.Provide individualized support to students through office hours.Contribute to the creation of USMLE‑style clinical vignette problems and other assessment question banks for the MD program.Support student tutoring and study process guidance in partnership with the BSOM Office of Student Success and Wellness.Assist in the administration and secure review of assessments in MD program.Teach and administer other pathway programs, including the Summer Program for Future Doctors (SPFD).Teach foundational science activities in the DMD program in ECU School of Dental Medicine.Contribute to ongoing curriculum development across the various professional degree programs.Develop and contribute opportunities for scholarship in learning and education.QualificationsDoctorate (Ph.D., M.D., D.V.M., D.Sc.) in a relevant foundational science field from an accredited institution.Experience teaching at undergraduate or graduate level.Broad content expertise in one or more of the basic biomedical sciences disciplines such as microbiology, immunology, or molecular biology.Ability to contribute to curriculum development and educational scholarship.All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.Contingent upon availability of funds.Equal Opportunity StatementEast Carolina University is committed to workforce success and cultivating a culture of care for our employees.
