This 13-week Mammography Technologist assignment is based in Greenville, North Carolina, a lively regional center in eastern North Carolina known for its blend of small-city charm and big-city amenities. The community offers a welcoming, friendly atmosphere with a cost of living that is generally more affordable than larger metropolitan areas, making it an attractive destination for travelers and short-term assignees.Greenville offers plenty to enjoy during your time off. The city features a revitalized uptown district with locally owned restaurants, coffee shops, and live music venues. There are walking and biking trails along the Tar River, parks and green spaces for outdoor activities, and a growing arts and cultural scene with galleries and performances. Sports enthusiasts can enjoy collegiate athletics, while those who appreciate food and drink will find a variety of Southern and international cuisine. Its location in eastern North Carolina also makes it easy to explore coastal communities, nearby historic towns, and scenic countryside on weekends. The assignment is in a non-acute setting focused primarily on scheduled breast imaging services. This environment is ideal for technologists who enjoy a more predictable daily routine and meaningful one-on-one patient interactions. The site emphasizes quality, patient-centered care, and efficient workflows. You can expect modern imaging equipment, structured protocols, and a supportive team of radiologists, nurses, and fellow technologists. This role centers on screening and diagnostic mammography. A typical day involves performing scheduled screening exams, handling diagnostic follow-up imaging as ordered, and collaborating with radiologists to ensure high-quality images and timely results. You will be responsible for proper patient positioning, image acquisition, and adherence to all safety and quality standards. The non-acute setting means you will primarily see outpatient and scheduled patients, creating an environment where you can focus on thorough, consistent, and compassionate care.Experience with biopsies is considered a plus, as some days may include assisting with breast biopsies or related interventional procedures. In such cases, you may be involved in preparing patients, positioning, supporting the radiologist during the procedure, and ensuring proper post-procedure imaging. The site values technologists who can maintain a calm, reassuring presence for patients who may be anxious about their results or procedures. The schedule is a day shift, 5 days per week of 8-hour shifts (5:8D), totaling 40 hours per week. This consistent daytime schedule supports work-life balance and allows you to take advantage of Greenville's recreational and cultural offerings in the evenings and on weekends. On-call is not expected for this position, making the schedule particularly appealing for technologists seeking structure and predictability.Patient volumes are designed to allow for thorough, careful imaging and patient interaction. You can anticipate a steady but manageable caseload, with screening appointments throughout the day and diagnostic cases interspersed as ordered. The environment encourages teamwork and clear communication, helping technologists integrate quickly and feel supported throughout the assignment. This assignment is well suited for a Mammography Technologist who wants to strengthen their breast imaging experience, gain exposure to a well-organized non-acute imaging environment, and work in a community that balances professional opportunity with a comfortable lifestyle. It offers a valuable resume-building experience in a regional medical market, with the chance to refine both technical skills and patient-care expertise in mammography.
