Description:

Description of Work This Engineering Technician III position is located in the Division 2 Greenville Resident Engineer's office and serves as a lead project inspector supporting engineers in the daily contract administration of construction projects. The role monitors project work and materials to ensure conformance to specifications and contractual provisions, supervises and trains lower‑level technicians, addresses project staffing needs, reviews project documentation, resolves constructability issues, ensures compliance with traffic control and contractor operations, monitors progress and contractor compliance with subcontractors and DBE/Title VI regulations, and coordinates with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, media, and property owners.The position also serves as a project inspector for roadway, utility, and structure projects, supporting higher‑level technicians and engineers in contract administration and may be required to work nights and weekends as needed.Offer of employment will be contingent upon successful completion of the NCDOT post‑offer employment evaluation.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Management Preferences Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems.Computer experience including office software and drafting software.Knowledge of mathematical functions (e.g., algebra, geometry, and trigonometry).Experience reading and interpreting construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and procedures.Experience taking notes, collecting field data, and preparing routine reports.Salary Grade and Salary Range Salary Grade: NC11Salary Range: $45,431 – $79,504Minimum Education and Experience Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or an assigned discipline from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of progressive technician‑level experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.EEO Statement The State of North Carolina is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer and is dedicated to providing employees with a work environment free from all forms of unlawful employment discrimination, harassment, or retaliation.
