Land Development Engineer

Description:

We are actively seeking a dedicated Land Development Civil Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. This role involves leading and supporting land development projects from conception through completion, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and delivering innovative infrastructure solutions. Duties

  • Develop comprehensive site plans, grading designs, and infrastructure layouts utilizing AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, and MicroStation to meet project specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform detailed hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using HECRAS, SWMM, and HEC software to support water resource management and stormwater system design.
  • Conduct land surveying activities and integrate GIS and ArcGIS data to inform project planning and ensure spatial accuracy.
  • Prepare technical reports, construction schematics, system designs, and construction documents with precision using technical writing skills.
  • Oversee construction management activities including scheduling, inspection, quality control, and ensuring adherence to safety standards.
  • Coordinate with geotechnical engineers for soil analysis and geotechnical assessments critical to foundation design.
  • Support project management tasks such as project scheduling, cost estimation, resource allocation, and progress tracking.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical engineers for water treatment or wastewater systems to develop integrated infrastructure solutions.
  • Conduct construction inspections to verify compliance with design specifications and resolve on-site issues promptly.
  • Utilize Bluebeam for document review, markup, and communication among project stakeholders.

Experience

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering. PE is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in greenfield land development, especially residential (SFD, townhomes). Municipal stormwater, commercial, and industrial experience is a plus.
  • Strong technical skills in Civil 3D, roadway profile, grading, storm drainage, and sewer/water plans. Stormwater management (SCMs), erosion control, as-builts, and field inspection are a plus.
  • Unwavering attention to detail, demonstrated through a commitment to accuracy in calculations, plan preparation, and all forms of project documentation. This includes a proactive approach to work with team leaders in identifying and resolving potential discrepancies or errors to ensure project success and regulatory compliance.
  • Effective communicator with a willingness to learn.
  • Familiarity with local ordinances is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment with a strong sense of work ethic, integrity, and ownership.
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D 2025, HydroCAD, Hydraflow Hydrograph + Stormsewer, Bluebeam, MS Teams, and other related software. Experience in Hec-Ras and WaterCAD is a plus.
