MATERIALS SUPERVISOR

Salary Range: $49,836.80 - $77,272.00

Anticipated Hiring Range: $49,836.80 - $63,564.80 (commensurate with experience)

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Under general direction, performs a variety of warehouse functions in the ordering, receiving, storing, and issuing of utility inventory materials and supplies; supervises and directs Materials Technicians; performs related work as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Supervises daily work operations and personnel in the areas of the stockroom, warehouse, and outside layout yard; participates in the hiring process and on-boarding of Materials Technicians; manages staff schedule to ensure adequate coverage to meet the demands of internal customers during business hours; provide relevant training for the Material Technicians to perform the essential functions within their assigned areas to included technical training and the operation of various heavy equipment such as forklifts, backhoes, and tractors; Schedule warehouse equipment and vehicles for regular maintenance and repairs; assists with implementing and reporting key warehouse safety practices which include but are not limited to, weekly Job Site Briefings and monthly safety contacts; establish goals and objectives for staff.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performance management to include performance appraisals and disciplinary process.
  • Promotes employee safety, growth, and goal achievement.
  • Oversees the warehouse housekeeping operation.
  • Handles the storage of surplus equipment/material designated for scrap and auction.
  • Manage the receiving, inspecting, stocking, and distribution of freight, equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Preparing and scheduling of outgoing freight.
  • Coordinating weekly inventory cycle counts and the annual physical inventory audit.
  • Ability to provide great customer service through effective communication amongst the team and internal customers.
  • Serves as a professional representative of Materials Management within the Commission and at off-site meetings.
  • Performs other needed duties as requested or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Six-months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency
  • Over 3 years of experience
  • Forklift certification
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Team building and customer service skills
  • Valid North Carolina Driver License
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Heavy equipment operator experience with backhoes, front-end loaders, and dump trucks
  • Supervisory experience
  • Commercial Driver License


Normal work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.
