Summary and Objective
The Operations Strategy Analyst Intern will support strategic and operational initiatives within a Part 145 FAA-certified MRO Paint Shop. This role focuses on analyzing performance data, improving operational efficiency, and supporting planning efforts to increase throughput by 50%. The intern will work cross-functionally with production, planning, quality, and leadership teams to drive data-informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
- Analyze operational data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improving paint shop performance (e.g., cycle time, capacity utilization, labor efficiency).
- Support development and tracking of strategic KPIs and performance dashboards.
- Assist in capacity planning and forecasting for paint shop operations.
- Partner with production and planning teams to evaluate workflow optimization and scheduling efficiency.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives using Lean principles and data-driven methodologies.
- Assist in cost analysis, including labor, materials, and rework impacts.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action planning for operational inefficiencies or quality issues.
- Develop presentations and reports to communicate insights and recommendations to leadership.
- Support compliance alignment with FAA Part 145 requirements while improving operational processes.
- Evaluate and benchmark best practices across MRO or similar industrial operations.

Work environment
- Hybrid exposure to office and paint shop floor operations.
- Interaction with cross-functional teams including production, quality, and leadership.
- Use of PPE required when in hangar or paint shop areas.
- Exposure to loud noises including but not limited to airplane machinery and jet engines.
Physical demands
- Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs minimally.
- Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools minimally.
- Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on a computer daily.
- Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor regularly.
- Walking (including routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces regularly.
- Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
Required education and experience
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Analytics, Aviation Management, or a related field.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data modeling, pivot tables); familiarity with tools like Power BI, Tableau, or SQL is a plus.
- Ability to translate data into actionable insights and recommendations.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Preferred
- Interest in aviation maintenance, MRO operations, or aerospace industry.
- Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or process improvement frameworks.
- Familiarity with ERP systems or maintenance tracking software.
- Basic understanding of FAA Part 145 regulations.
