Your Day
Key Responsibilities:

• Flagging vehicles to alert motorists of upcoming obstacles or repair work.
• Setting up signs and barriers around work zones to safely divert traffic.
• Operating trucks or tractors equipped to sweep debris from roadways, mow grass and keep areas clear of snow and ice.
• Applying asphalt to repair joints and patch damaged pavement.
• Transporting teams and equipment to project sites using company vehicles.
• Inspecting, maintaining, and repairing essential infrastructure, including drains, bridges, and tunnels.
• Transporting and distributing sand, gravel, and other materials to restore road conditions.
• Installing and maintaining guardrails, highway markers, warning signals, and lighting systems.
• Removing debris, litter, and other hazardous materials from roadways.
• Cleaning and clearing drainage systems and ensuring proper flow of water.
• Engaging in roadside landscaping tasks, such as trimming trees and managing the growth of weeds.
• Painting traffic control lines and installing pavement-marking messages, both manually and using specialized equipment.
• Verifying the correct placement of markers through inspections.
• Measuring and marking locations for installations with precision.
• Carrying out physical tasks such as lifting, moving, and working continuously in various outdoor settings.
• Adhering to safety protocols and wearing required safety gear at all times.

You will need:

• A solid foundation in traffic control techniques, including flagger training and certification.
• A thorough understanding of safety regulations and government guidelines.
• Proficiency with materials and tools used in highway and road construction or repair.
• The ability to adjust equipment controls accurately and consistently.
• Strong near vision and the capacity to identify details up close.
• Depth perception skills to accurately judge distances.
• Exceptional attention to detail, analytical abilities, and problem-solving skills.
• The capacity to work efficiently and safely in potentially hazardous environments.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with colleagues and supervisors.
• Competency in using tools and equipment safely and adeptly.
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods.
