Paralegal Position at Better Life Plans

Better Life Plans is a dynamic and growing company that assists clients with their debt settlement programs through our relationships with attorneys and law firms across the United States. BLP is seeking a motivated and caring Paralegal to draft lawsuit answers related to consumer debt and creditor lawsuits. Individuals should be self-starters while working in a team-oriented environment and have strong attention to detail with a focus on providing the highest level of customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Critically analyze and interpret legal documents
  • Professionally communicate with a network of Attorneys and courts
  • Use company-approved templates to draft lawsuit responses
  • Make attorney-requested edits as needed
  • Manage caseload via company CRM software
  • Update client profiles at multiple data points
  • File legal documents across multiple jurisdictions using a variety of filing methods
  • Escalate issues to the appropriate resource
  • Communicate with various involved parties to ensure accurate and timely resolution
  • Oversee submissions to ensure filing within Answer deadlines
  • Complete tasks timely
  • Learn and adapt to new software and filing system
  • Ensure all legal documents, communications, and system updates meet Quality and Productivity Standards
  • Ensure assigned cases follow proper procedures
  • Prioritize caseload to manage multiple deadlines
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Required:
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Paralegal certification, similar legal services degree, or 3+ years of paralegal experience
    • Experience drafting legal documents
    • Intermediate skills in MS Office Suite of applications, including Microsoft Word and Outlook
    • Able to multi-task and focus on several cases at once
    • Proficient in working with various software and websites
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Able to work independently with little direct supervision
    • A strong sense of accountability and executing assignments at the highest level
    • Communicate both verbally and in written format at an intermediate level
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience in FDCPA guidelines.
    • One year experience filing with courts, e-filing experience a plus.
    • One year or more drafting legal responses.
    • Effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
    • General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Anticipated start date: 03/23/2026

Full Time; Non-Exempt role

Schedule: Monday through Friday - 9:00am - 5:30pm EST

Pay Cycle: Weekly

Hourly pay rate - $18
