What you'll do
Diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing gas/diesel equipment (mowers, generators, pumps, etc.), performing preventive care (sharpening, oil changes), managing parts inventory, keeping records, and potentially welding or assisting with larger equipment, requiring skills in mechanical/electrical diagnosis, tool operation (grinders, welders), problem-solving, and physical ability for heavy lifting in various conditions, often with emergency call-out requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnosis & Repair: Troubleshoot and fix mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in various small engines and groundskeeping equipment (e.g., chainsaws, generators, pumps, tractors, mowers).
Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine servicing, blade sharpening, lubrication, and inspections.
Equipment Operation: Operate and test repaired equipment to ensure proper function.
Inventory & Records: Track parts, order supplies, and maintain detailed logs of repairs and maintenance.
Fabrication: Perform basic welding and fabrication for replacement parts.
Required Skills & Abilities
Technical: Strong knowledge of small engine mechanics, electrical systems, carburetors, and hydraulics.
Tools: Proficiency with hand tools, diagnostic equipment, grinders, and welders.
Problem-Solving: Critical thinking and troubleshooting to identify complex issues.
Physical: Stamina for standing/lifting (50+ lbs), working outdoors in various weather, and fine motor skills for detail work.
Soft Skills: Good communication, organization, and attention to detail.
Work Environment
Often involves physical labor and working in noisy, dirty conditions (shops, outdoors).
