Job Description
Senior Antenna Product Engineer
General Motors is advancing the next generation of connected vehicle platforms. We are seeking a Senior Antenna Product Engineer who excels in product execution, supplier delivery, and lifecycle ownership-not just component design.
This role is not a pure RF or antenna design position. Instead, it is a product development role, responsible for taking antenna systems from concept through validation, launch, and production, ensuring performance, quality, cost, and timing targets are met across the full vehicle lifecycle.
You will act as the technical product owner for antenna systems, serving as the primary interface between contract manufacturers, validation teams, manufacturing, vehicle integration teams, and program management.
Key Responsibilities (Execution-Driven)
Product Ownership & Delivery
- Drive execution to meet program milestones, prototype/vehicle builds, and launch readiness.
- Ensure antenna systems meet functional, performance, cost, weight, and quality targets
Product Development - Lead DV / PV execution, PPAP readiness, and production approval
- Own and manage contract manufacturer deliverables across DVP&R, DFMEA, PFMEA, Mechanical Dynamic/Static Analysis, Interface Matrices, and quality documentation
- Lead issue resolution across suppliers, manufacturing, and vehicle integration teams
- Serve as guide for product development, working closely with in house design technology teams.
- Support on site manufacturing builds at contract manufacturer as well as vehicle assembly plants.
Manufacturing & Assembly (SMT/PCB) - Support SMT assembly and partner with manufacturing plants for line bring-up and EOL testing.
- Drive design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and resolve build issues quickly.
Validation & Testing - Author/Lead DV/PV validation plans and ensure completion of environmental, EMC, RF, and vehicle-level testing.
- Support vehicle testing (anechoic chamber, outdoor range, bench testing as required)
- Review test results, identify risks, and drive corrective actions
Cross-Functional Integration - Coordinate cross-functional teams and support prototype builds and engineering sign-offs.
- Ensure compatibility across module interfaces, harnessing, mounting, and packaging
Change & Cost Management - Lead engineering changes and cost initiatives, including verification, tracking, and sourcing decisions
- Document lessons learned and drive continuous improvement across programs
Required Qualifications (Execution Emphasis) - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of automotive product development experience, owning components from concept to production
- Demonstrated experience executing DV/PV plans, PPAP, and production launches
- Proven ability to lead supplier execution and manage technical deliverables
- Strong working knowledge of DFMEA / PFMEA, DVP&R, quality and validation processes
- Experience working within structured automotive product development systems (e.g., GPDS-like environments)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to drive decisions across technical and non-technical teams
Preferred / Differentiating Experience - Hands-on exposure to vehicle-level testing (chambers, ranges, DV/PV builds)
- Experience working directly with manufacturing plants and EOL test development
- Experience supporting change control and issue resolution under tight program timing
- Cost, weight, and investment target ownership
- Use Jira (or similar) to track tasks, manage priorities, and communicate status.
- Familiarity with OEM-supplier execution models
- Experience owning automotive antenna systems (AM/FM/DAB, GNSS, Cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Satellite Radio, C-V2X)
- Ability to review (not necessarily create) RF simulation outputs (HFSS or equivalent)
