Job Description:
- The Phlebotomist I supports the Specimen Processing Department by performing general laboratory support tasks requiring accuracy, strong data entry skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- The role involves handling various specimen types, maintaining compliance with test-related regulations, and adapting to frequent workflow changes.
- Ability to provide accurate, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
- Effective communication skills with all levels of staff.
- Ability to work in a biohazard environment and follow all safety and compliance policies.
- No experience required.
- Previous laboratory experience preferred.
- Medical background preferred (including medical terminology related to clinical labs).
- Previous hospital laboratory or production environment experience a plus.
- Perform support functions such as A-station tasks, presort, specimen pickup/delivery, imaging, centrifugation, and aliquoting.
- Maintain accuracy and timely processing of specimens.
- Learn and understand specimen types and related testing requirements.
- Follow compliance regulations related to test ordering.
- Maintain digital and physical work areas in a neat and orderly manner.
- Communicate effectively with staff and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
- Adapt to frequent workflow changes.
- Flexibility to handle varying demands from customers.
- Ability to adapt to changing daily requirements.
- Basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of laboratory testing or specimen processing preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a production-driven environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical background preferred.
