The Phlebotomist I supports the Specimen Processing Department by performing general laboratory support tasks requiring accuracy, strong data entry skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
The role involves handling various specimen types, maintaining compliance with test-related regulations, and adapting to frequent workflow changes.
Requirement/Must Have:
Ability to provide accurate, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
Effective communication skills with all levels of staff.
Ability to work in a biohazard environment and follow all safety and compliance policies.
Experience:
No experience required.
Previous laboratory experience preferred.
Medical background preferred (including medical terminology related to clinical labs).
Previous hospital laboratory or production environment experience a plus.
Responsibilities:
Perform support functions such as A-station tasks, presort, specimen pickup/delivery, imaging, centrifugation, and aliquoting.
Maintain accuracy and timely processing of specimens.
Learn and understand specimen types and related testing requirements.
Follow compliance regulations related to test ordering.
Maintain digital and physical work areas in a neat and orderly manner.
Communicate effectively with staff and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
Adapt to frequent workflow changes.
Should Have:
Flexibility to handle varying demands from customers.
Ability to adapt to changing daily requirements.
Skills:
Basic computer skills.
Knowledge of laboratory testing or specimen processing preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a production-driven environment.
Qualification and Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Medical background preferred.
