Anticipated Hiring Range: $40,000 - $45,000

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday / 8am - 5pm (with some evenings and weekends as needed)

Job Location: Columbia, NC

Responsibilities

  • Overall management and coordination of weekend rental, retreat groups, and special events throughout the calendar year.
  • Meet with potential user groups and facilitate tours as requested.
  • Management of reservation and contract process with all rental and retreat groups.
  • Responsible for securing lodging/room layouts, dietary needs, and program waiver forms from user groups.
  • Provide on-site guest services by preparing event signage, guest keys, and other services requested by the user group.
  • Required on-call coverage for weekend groups on a rotational basis with other Center staff.
  • Coordination with other staff for facilitation of all rental and user groups when required.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and coordinator for all user groups during the non‑summer camp season.
  • Assist in the cleaning of facilities and equipment as necessary.
  • Work with Food Service and Maintenance supervisors to provide facility and support needs of user groups.
  • Work with the Program Director when user groups have requested on‑site programming needs.
  • Develop and implement marketing and recruitment plans and supporting materials as needed to support user groups and special event programs.
  • Serve on the Center's leadership team.
  • Develop liaison and membership with organizations in areas of outdoor and environmental education. Utilize the American Camp Association to the fullest extent possible.
  • Provide support as an instructor or group contact for programs other than those for which leadership is given when needed and scheduling allows including non‑program groups and overnight groups.

Program Marketing and User Support

  • Development of brochures and information pieces that accurately reflect the needs of the Center.
  • Maintain the Center's social media accounts year round.
  • Capturing and developing year round items for marketing pieces through photographs, brochures, etc.
  • Develop a marketing plan on an annual basis taking into account Center availability and potential supplement to Center income.
  • Serve as the primary contact for users by making contact with program coordinators (and where necessary, individuals) for programs in the area to which leadership is given after scheduling is confirmed and as needed to meet the groups programmatic needs, answer questions and provide support.

Center and Program Support and Resource Development

  • Collaborating with the Center Director and members of the NC 4‑H Development Fund to conduct assigned fund development activities. This may include our annual fundraising event (Dock of the Bay) and Community events such as Potato Tuesday.
  • Provide support to the Center Advisory Board and committees related to program areas under his/her leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in the areas of Education, Recreation or Counseling, other similar field, with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Organization, word processing/data management, and personnel hiring and management skills.
  • Experience in working with young people.
  • Knowledge of 4‑H programs and Land Grant University mission.
  • Designing/developing curriculum and educational support materials.
  • Program assessment/evaluation.
  • Marketing.
  • Budget management.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proposal development and managing grants.

Required Licenses/Certifications

  • Valid NC driver's license required (or ability to obtain within 60 days of start date).
  • Commercial driver's license not required.
