What is a General Manager?

The General Manager works with his/her leader to set the restaurant's goals and create a plan to achieve them. The GM is responsible for running a profitable restaurant and ensuring the restaurant meets McDonald's critical customer standards of Quality, Service, and Cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Shift and Department Managers, setting goals, following up on progress, and providing coaching and direction.
• Helps managers set their own goals, follow up, and improve their departments.
• Responsible for hiring and developing Department and Shift Managers.
• Works with leader to set restaurant goals and plan to achieve them.

Qualifications

• Previous General Manager experience running high‑volume locations.
• Hamburger University graduate or equivalent.
• Technical experience with OTP2 or OTP3 certifications desired.
• Background in quick‑service restaurants, hospitality, or retail.
• Must be 18 years or older for corporate owned and operated restaurants.
