Job Title: Exceptional Children's Teacher
Term of Employment: 10 months
Responsibilities:
* Ability to assume primary responsibility for the planning and implementing of the daily program for children with special needs
* Ability to work well with children and staff for providing guidance to foster optimum development.
* Ability to provide leadership in a classroom setting.
* Ability to relate, work and communicate with children and adults
* Develop and maintain appropriately written Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals for students with special needs and ensure that these plans are being implemented
* Learn and use the Every Child Accountability & Tracking System (ECATS)
POSITION SUMMARY: The EC Teacher is responsible for providing children with a safe and healthy learning environment; advancing their physical and intellectual growth; supporting social and emotional development; providing positive guidance and discipline; establishing positive relationships with families and encouraging their involvement in the education of their children, ensuring a well-run purposeful program responsive to participant's needs; and maintaining a commitment to professionalism. It is the responsibility of the EC Teacher to provide training and assistance to the Assistant Teacher (if applicable) in developing group/individual activity plans, classroom management and procurement of needed teaching materials and supplies.
Qualifications:
* 48 hours of college courses and proficient knowledge in the area of child development. Experience with children with special needs preferred.
