Description

The Autism Society of North Carolina is seeking an Assistant Social Recreation Program Director. This position plays a key leadership role in planning, implementing, and overseeing our inclusive recreational services for individuals with autism. This position supports the Director in the oversight and management of our summer day camp, year-round after-school, and young adult program, ensuring high-quality, individualized experiences that promote social engagement, skill development, and community inclusion. Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the design and execution of engaging, developmentally appropriate recreational activities tailored to the needs of individuals with autism
  • Assist in oversight of seasonal programming, including curriculum development, identification of resources and community activitiesand scheduling
  • Serve as a point ofcontact for families, providing clear communication and responsive support
  • Developservice plans for each individual to address identified support needs through available services
  • Overseethe ongoing review, renewal/revision, and reauthorization of services as needed to maintain services
  • Completedocumentation in accordance with state and payor regulations and guidelines
  • Collaboratewith Regional Recruiter to support recruitment, interviewing,and training of prospective and new program staff
  • Providesupervision, coaching andsupport to program staff and interns
  • Maintaina positive, inclusive team culture that reflects the values of respect, collaboration, and empathy
  • Communicateand collaborate effectively with parents, caregivers, professionals, staff, and campers
  • Ensurecompliance and required documentation with all ASNC policies, participant goals and objectives, as well as health and safety regulations
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Must have ability to work a flexible schedule that correlate with slightly varying seasonal schedules. Occasional weekends may be included

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Special Education/Education, Recreation Therapy, Rehabilitation,Social Work, Psychology, or other related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities in a recreational or educational setting ispreferred
  • Supervisory experience ispreferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early evenings and occasional weekends based upon slight variations in seasonal schedules

Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in autism support and inclusive recreation
  • Experience with behavior management and positive behavior support strategies.
  • Leadership and Facilitation skills
  • Passion, purpose, and drive for providing support and enhancing the lives of people with autism
  • Personal awareness of the benefits yougain from working closely with our amazing program participants
