Position Title: Special Education Pre-K Teacher Assistant
Location: Sadie Saulter EC PreK Program
Reports To: Classroom Teacher and EC Pre-K Coordinator
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Understanding of developmentally appropriate behaviors in both typical and atypical preschoolers
* Ability to model professional behavior and appropriate student conduct, including reliable attendance and appearance
* Strong communication skills with students, families, and staff
* Ability to support early literacy, oral language development, and social-emotional learning
* Capacity to encourage creativity, independence, and problem-solving in young children
* Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
* Team-oriented with a positive and cooperative attitude
* Willingness to complete bus driver training and obtain a CDL (Commercial Driver's License)
Responsibilities:
* Assist the teacher with implementing daily instructional activities and individualized plans for students
* Support the development and maintenance of classroom procedures and expectations
* Prepare and organize materials and supplies for instructional use
* Actively participate in all classroom activities, including work centers, circle time, meals, and outdoor play
* Support behavior management strategies in alignment with classroom guidelines and crisis response protocols
* Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
* Promote students' health and hygiene routines
* Provide support during classroom transitions and routines throughout the day
* Collaborate with the teacher and support staff to monitor student progress and communicate observations
* Attend and assist with home visits and family engagement activities as needed
* Participate in Family/Child Activities and school events
* Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student and family information
* Assist with cleaning and maintaining the physical environment of the classroom
* Obtain a CDL and serve as a bus driver when necessary
* Perform other duties as assigned to support program goals and student success
