Product Development Application Engineer

Will act as the technical contact with internal stakeholders - providing technical, design, and product application guidance to meet customer needs. Will ensure test support, and prototype and pilot build coordination, on a large scale and complex development program, acting as the coordinator between Product Development, Operations team, and the Technical Center. Work with the Operations team during pilot, pre-production, and production builds to identify quality, assembly, and value improvement opportunities. Liaison with Product Development for evaluation, development, and design.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Functions as primary liaison between the Internal Operational Stakeholders, Product Development, Technical Center, and the supporting swim lanes.
  • Supports the lead test coordinator between the PD Engineering team and the Technical Center on a large-scale development program.
  • Advocates customer requirements and requests in support for engine builds with Operations and Product Development.
  • Advocates operational VAVE requirements and requests with Product Development.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively with the customer on internal activities at the direction of the Sr. Applications Engineer, and drives them to meet conclusions in the best interests of our company
  • Coordinates 8D corrective action process among broader team ensuring progress and completion.
  • Communicates issues, opportunities, and customer activity to internal leadership.
  • Learns, understands, and follows internal processes designed to drive results for the program.
  • Uses interpersonal skills to resolve personnel and priority conflicts.
  • Able to understand complex topics and can communicate them simply and concisely.
  • Desires learning through instruction, questioning, and hands on application.
  • Able to assemble information from various sources and derives action plans to achieve project goals.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires a BSME or equivalent with 5+ years of engineering/sales/marketing experience or a master's degree in mechanical engineering with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree: Master's Degree preferred
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have an understanding of:Creo drafting software and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing; diesel and/or gasoline engine performance and emissions characteristics; component casting and machining design and manufacturing requirements; and application of turbochargers and related components.
  • Experience in organizing, monitoring, and summarizing product development tests for internal decision and guidance, and customer updates.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Ability to carry out multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.

Salary Range:

$100,000 - $137,500
