Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Business Continuity will lead and oversee the development, implementation, and management of comprehensive business continuity and disaster recovery programs across the healthcare system, including all hospitals, clinics, and shared services and other administrative functions. This leadership position requires a strategic thinker with deep expertise in healthcare operations, risk management, and business continuity planning. As the Assistant Director, you will work closely with executive leadership, clinical and non-clinical departments, and external partners to ensure the healthcare system's resilience in the face of disruptions and emergencies.
As The Assistant Director Of Business Continuity, Responsibilities Includes
- Developing and leading the execution of a system-wide business continuity strategy that aligns with the healthcare system's mission, vision, and regulatory requirements.
- Overseeing the creation, implementation, and maintenance of business continuity plans and disaster recovery strategies for all hospitals, clinics, and system functions.
- Conducting high-level risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify critical operations and dependencies, ensuring the prioritization of resources for business continuity planning.
- Leading the coordination and execution of regular business continuity training, drills, and simulations for leadership and staff, ensuring preparedness at all levels of the organization.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for business continuity during crises, leading the response and recovery efforts to minimize operational disruptions and ensure patient safety.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant healthcare regulations, standards, and accreditation requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS) related to business continuity and emergency management.
- Collaborating with IT leadership to integrate business continuity with information technology disaster recovery (ITDR) planning, ensuring alignment and coordination across the system.
- Will act as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on matters related to organizational resilience, risk management, and emergency preparedness.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with external partners, including emergency management agencies, regulatory bodies, vendors, and community organizations, to support business continuity efforts.
- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of business continuity programs, using data-driven insights to recommend and implement continuous improvements.
- Providing leadership and direction to the business continuity team, ensuring the development of staff and the effective execution of departmental goals.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Emergency Management, or a related field.
- 8 to 10 years of experience in business continuity, risk management, or emergency management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a healthcare setting.
- Relevant business continuity certifications required, such as Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Master Business Continuity Professional (MBCP), or Healthcare Business Continuity Management (HBCM).
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful business continuity programs in a complex healthcare environment.
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, standards, and accreditation processes related to business continuity and emergency management.
- Experience in conducting enterprise-level risk assessments and business impact analyses.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in business continuity software tools, data analysis, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Other Information
- 40 hours per week
- Monday - Friday (8 am - 5 pm)
- Required to Report In on occasional basis due to Emergency Operations Plan Activation
