Job Title: Engineering Project Manager-Medical Device Location: Cincinnati, OH Full Time/Permanent with full benefits Client Business Driver Our client is an innovative medical technology startup that specializes in developing wearable biochemical monitoring devices aimed at transforming chronic disease management through real-time, remote patient monitoring. The Work As our client shifts from concept to physical product, they are building out a stronger technical execution layer and need an individual to help us drive this next phase. They are seeking a hands-on Engineering Project Manager (fractional) who thrives in ambiguity and brings structure to early-stage product development. You'll serve as the glue across engineering, vendors, and technical partners—ensuring alignment, clarity, and execution from design through testing. Key Responsibilities Translate early-stage product goals into actionable engineering project plans Work closely with internal technical teams, contract partners, and academic collaborators to align timelines and deliverables Drive cross-functional communication across all stakeholders and serve as the “in-the-room” lead for technical meetings Own vendor coordination, particularly around mechanical and testing partners Identify gaps in the product development process, especially as we transition into physical prototyping and testing Help define and manage the next layer of testing strategy—vendor selection, protocols, and timelines Maintain visibility into all technical workstreams, surfacing risks and driving decision-making Qualifications Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering background (BS or higher) 5 years of experience in engineering project or program management, ideally in startups, MedTech, or early-stage hardware Comfortable bridging the gap between academic R&D and product-focused development Adept at technical communication and vendor management Proactive and able to bring structure without overbuilding processes Preferred Skills Experience with Class II medical devices or regulated environments Hands-on experience with prototyping and mechanical testing Previous fractional/consulting roles in early-stage startups PMP Certification Expected Commitment This will be a fractional engagement.
