Brooksource Engineering Services is seeking a highly skilled Lead Engineer and Continuous Improvement Specialist to support one of our industry-leading pharmaceutical manufacturing partners. This role will serve as a key advisor and lead engineer, focusing on enhancing existing manufacturing sites and supporting start-up line/site efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Progress:
- Start-Up Milestones: Own the tracking and completion of key start-up milestones for new packaging lines.
- Performance Metrics: Take responsibility for monitoring and improving operational staffing, changeovers, alarm management, huddles, performance management, and downtime reduction.
- Efficiency Gains: Measure and drive overall batch efficiency, aiming for a target of 70%.
Coaching and Team Development:
- Team Engagement: Evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of coaching sessions with new sites' process teams.
- Skill Development: Track and improve team skills and knowledge related to operational processes.
- Feedback and Adaptation: Collect feedback from coached teams and adapt strategies to ensure continuous improvement.
Project Management and Execution:
- Project Timelines: Ensure adherence to project timelines and milestones, from initiation to completion.
- Resource Allocation: Monitor and optimize the allocation and utilization of resources.
- Issue Resolution: Own the tracking and resolution of any issues or bottlenecks encountered during the project.
Cost Savings and Process Improvement:
- Cost Reduction: Measure and achieve cost savings through process optimization and material savings.
- Process Improvements: Track and implement impactful process improvements.
- Lean Manufacturing: Apply and monitor lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement.
- Floor Presence: Be actively involved on the manufacturing site floors, engaging directly with equipment and processes.
- Practical Engineering: Apply engineering skills to troubleshoot, optimize, and improve manufacturing operations.
- Problem Solving: Identify and resolve technical issues, ensuring smooth and efficient production.
Tool Deployment:
- Formulate and deploy tools or process improvements in key areas such as:
- Safe working environment
- Asset effectiveness and efficiency
- Equipment cleaning
- Maintenance
- Changeover
- Daily Management System
- Standard Work
- Systematic continuous improvement
- Gemba and floor presence
- Competency tracking and development plans
- Use of shared central support
- Leadership skills and team health
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a similar role within the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of device, assembly, and packaging areas within the pharma domain.
- Expertise in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent project management skills with a track record of meeting deadlines and milestones.
- Effective coaching and team development abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to be hands-on and actively involved in manufacturing site operations.
