This Coastal Management Field Representative is responsible for duties that are primarily those associated with the administration of permit requirements of the Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA) and the Dredge and Fill law in the area served by the Wilmington District office. Approximately two-thirds of this work is outside and physical in nature. This position is based in the Wilmington District Office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for CAMA Regulatory Permitting and Enforcement work for development projects
- Conducting on-site reviews of permit applications
- Providing information on projects that usually require coordination with other divisions and state agencies for permit approval
- should have good verbal and written communication skills.
The Division of Coastal Management The Division of Coastal Management (DCM) works to protect, conserve, and manage North Carolina's coastal resources through an integrated program of planning, permitting, education and research. DCM carries out the state's Coastal Area Management Act, the Dredge and Fill Law and the federal Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972 in the 20 coastal counties, using rules and policies of the NC Coastal Resources Commission, known as the CRC. Bachelor's degree in one of the agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
