Position: Retail District Manager for Wilmington and surrounding areas (Duplin, Onslow, Pender, and Sampson Counties). Weekend work may be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage sales activities of the Retail sales division by executing sales programs in the marketplace.
- Oversee the effectiveness of the Off-Premise sales force by riding with and evaluating Sales Representatives.
- Communicate and monitor Empire's objectives and expectations through staffing, training, and performance evaluations.
- Understand and coach the company philosophy of customer service.
- Prepare for and conduct general meetings in the absence of the Sales Manager.
- Conduct wine training and tastings during meetings.
- Manage store resets and set up new package store accounts.
- Track sales quotas compared to budget weekly.
- Supervise salespeople's daily activities.
- Monitor the utilization and effectiveness of point-of-sale materials in the market.
- Deliver sales presentations to key clients in coordination with sales representatives.
- Meet with key clients, assist sales representatives with maintaining relationships, negotiating, and closing deals.
- Monitor and evaluate activities and products of competitors in relation to Empire's market presence.
- Maintain high visibility in key accounts.
- Interact with suppliers through work-withs, dinners, and trade functions.
- Report on focus items monthly and prepare a monthly preplan calendar.
- Conduct and document market surveys.
- Review weekly sales performance to monitor gross profit and case sales.
- Recap monthly incentives.
- Ensure business activities comply with local and state laws.
- Maintain open communication with other departments.
- Continuously update training and product knowledge.
- Provide sales coverage in territories when sales representatives are unavailable.
- Track item movement for efficient shelf management in each account.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (one to two years related experience or training).
Certificates and Licenses:
- Valid Driver's License and a State Sales Permit.
Computer Skills:
- Knowledge of order processing systems, inventory software, and spreadsheet software.
