Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer

Join a leading global chemical company as a Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer, focusing on enhancing plant-wide safety protocols and ensuring compliance with national safety standards. This pivotal role involves coordinating with various departments to fortify safety measures, conduct comprehensive safety audits, and maintain rigorous documentation standards. Successful candidates will offer innovative strategies for continuous improvement and directly engage with regulatory agencies to uphold the highest levels of safety and compliance.

Salary: $125,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Apply PSM principles by providing technical expertise, implementing policies and procedures, and performing focused safety audits.
  • Set and pursue strategic goals for the continuous improvement of the site-wide PSM program.
  • Guide employees through reviews of all plant process changes, modifications, construction, and operations to ensure PSM compliance.
  • Support site PHA Facilitators with necessary training in HazOps, SIL, SRS, and SIS to meet site compliance requirements.
  • Facilitate corrective actions stemming from Incident Investigations, PHAs, and audits to minimize process and physical hazards.
  • Manage all PSM-related documentation, including MOC and incident/corrective action reporting.
  • Stay updated on new or impending PSM regulations and enforcement or inspection methods by regulatory bodies.
  • Develop and oversee PSM program costs within the Health & Safety Department budget.
  • Direct interactions with regulatory agencies on all PSM matters, including responses to inspections.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
  • BS Engineering degree with over 5 years of experience as a Process Engineer in PSM-compliant regulated industries.
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA Standards for General Industry regulation 29 CFR 1910.119.
  • Demonstrated understanding of chemical manufacturing operations.
  • Proven track record with incident investigations leading to enhanced safety measures.
  • Eligibility to work in the USA without sponsorship, now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Certifications in safety management, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar.
  • Experience with international safety standards and global regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with various teams.
  • Ability to mentor and train staff on PSM requirements and safety protocols.
