The Quality Technician is responsible for supporting plant quality compliance, product quality improvement and process capability. This position leads continuous improvement activities to improve product quality and process performance and leads root cause and corrective action activities to resolve field and in-plant quality issues.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Lead process improvements and implementation of a "quality culture" that adheres to the QMS.
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions to resolve quality-related issues.
- Support the Quality Engineer in regulatory compliance, product quality improvement, and manufacturing process capability.
- Verify and validate finished goods to determine conformance to quality specifications and design intent.
- Perform process and product audits, and provide feedback to improve their effectiveness.
- Drive process capability through deployment of quality control tools (CpK analysis, SPC, etc.)
- Understand the necessary process inputs at a work cell to produce a quality product and develop work instructions to capture the process.
- Assist in the training of quality auditors, Inspectors, and production employees to the requirements that yield a quality product.
- Effectively communicate quality issues to process owners and quality leaders.
- Track customer orders and generate data reports.
- Oversee quality initiatives and auditor assignments as needed.
- Cross-train in other areas in the department to be proficient in all jobs in the department.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: - 3+ years of quality/process engineering with a minimum of 2 years industrial experience in which the candidate had responsibility for the development and implementation of product and/or process quality. Leadership role preferred.
- Highly proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint and Mini Tab is required. Particularly the ability to use pivot table and performance business data analysis as well as process capability analysis.
- Associates or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience with gauge calibration preferred.
- Experience with quality systems is preferred.
- Bi-lingual a plus (English and Spanish).
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The atmosphere is that of a manufacturing plant. The position will primarily work where moving machinery produces noise. Employees must wear Personal Protective Equipment that is issued for that location. Temperature can range from extreme cold to extreme heat. Physical demands may include standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, climbing, pushing/pulling, forward bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, squatting, crawling, postural balancing, manipulating, trunk rotation, handling, gripping, and talking (hearing).
