+ **Duties**

The role of this position is to perform aircraft painting operations in support of the Industrial Operations Divsion (IOD).

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.

Typical work assignments include:

* Preparing surfaces by methods such as smoothing, filling, shaping, and leveling with synthetic resins and various acrylic compounds as well as mixing and applying pre-coating agents.

* Mixing various lacquers, cellulose, acrylic, enamels (epoxy and polyurethane) to their proper viscosity.

* Maintaining all paint equipment in the proper working order and insuring clean, safe and efficient work conditions.

* Using Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) to identify hazards and properties of specific hazardous materials.

* Insuring all surfaces meet smoothness, level and shape requirements; determining the methods, techniques, devices, and materials that are best suited for the surface finish.

**Will receive training from the Support Center Hazardous Materials Specialist on each of the specific hazardous materials and hazardous wastes used on the job and proper use of personal protective equipment - Refresher training must be received annually**

Duties are the same for all grade levels; except performed under closer supervision at the WG-5 and WG-7 level.
